Details View: current limitation

Details View is intended for larger record content than a small popover. Its settings and templates are visible in the v9 tree, but the current development version has an unresolved instance-selection problem in the Interactions → Show details view action.

Known v9 limitation

The action does not reliably use the Details instance selected by the component tree. These docs therefore do not demonstrate a successful Details opening workflow or recommend it as a required step in a tutorial.

Use a popover for the documented examples

Configure Region / Marker → Interactions → Show popover, and place your content in the corresponding Popover template. See Tooltips and popovers.

For a design that must navigate to a separate page, use an appropriate verified link action and test it on the frontend. Editor navigation restrictions can differ from normal visitor navigation.

What remains configurable

You can inspect the Details component’s available Settings, Styles, and Code sources. Its size/layout and content configuration are separate from the action that chooses which instance to open.

A correct-looking template or selected tree row does not prove that the click action will open that same instance. Keep an unpublished draft for experiments and verify the behavior after the instance-linking issue is fixed.

Existing sites

This limitation concerns the current v9 authoring/action path. It is not a statement that every existing v8 Details setup has stopped working. Preserve a working v8 publication while reviewing a migration draft, and compare its actual frontend behavior before replacing it.
