MapSVG started in 2011 almost by accident, when Roman, currently CEO & founder, who was a fullstack developer back then, was asked to create an interactive map for a client's website. He searched for ready-made tools that could take any vector image — for example, an SVG file — and make it interactive with JavaScript. To his surprise, nothing like that existed.

Roman spent months building his own solution. In the end, the client never paid for the project. But instead of letting that work go to waste, Roman decided to see if others might find it useful. A friend suggested uploading the plugin to CodeCanyon. Within just one month, over 50 people had bought it. That was the moment of realization that there was real potential in the product.

For the next few years Roman kept developing MapSVG, unsure how big it could become. Eventually, it became clear: this was more than a side project. This was the moment when Roman registered a company and hired support staff and developers, and the plugin matured with every release.

Today, after more than 13 years, MapSVG is the most flexible mapping plugin on the market. It's trusted by agencies, developers and businesses worldwide who need complete control over both interactive maps and the data behind them.
